They've been exceptional to me. I think I should just put this out there. I can't say the same for the 8400M GS they put in their notebooks, but so far they've done their jobs with minimum fuss. What do I mean? A conversation between Dell XPS support and me goes something like this:
- I call Dell
- Some lady picks up the phone, asks for my service tag.
- I tell her the tag.
- She asks me what issue I have.
- I tell her.
- She answers if it's upgrade/warranty/sales. Otherwise directs to tech department.
- Tech department answers if it's an issue. Advises if I want a specific piece of hardware.
In the case of my fried motherboard, this is how it went:
- I call Dell (the XPS line)
- Some lady picks up the phone, asks for my service tag.
- I tell her the tag.
- She asks me what issue I have.
- I tell her.
- She transfers to Tech Support.
- Tech support asks me to describe the problem in detail.
- I tell them details, diagnostic tests (Dell has this suite they provide) I've done, symptoms.
- Tech support arranges for a meeting in another city (to which I'm flying) the next business day afternoon and sends a replacement board.
- Technician comes. Fixes stuff.
At no point did I have to fight. With Airtel broadband, I had to wrestle a connection out of them. With Univercell, I had to fight them to fix my phone and then it broke even worse an hour after I got it back. With Vodafone, I got idiotic instructions when I finally got to speak to human. But with Dell it was always the way it should be, because they value your time. You have an issue - they handle it instead of giving you the run around. Maybe I don't know what makes me a valuable customer with Airtel or Vodafone (Rs. 3k a month isn't good enough?)
