I saw this movie today, and the soundtrack is amazing. I was never a fan of Pearl Jam (having never heard them, actually) and for some reason had this idea that they were Coldplay and Nickelback like. Apparently I'm wrong. Eddie Vedder is brilliant. I love those songs.
As for the movie? Parts of it were nice — Happiness is best shared — but as for the whole? I'm disappointed. A romanticised tale of one foolish boy's (mis)adventure. I agree whole-heartedly with the themes of being close to nature and away from materialism, and the film itself was another of those movies which have convinced me that I must see America before I die, but I dislike this idea of protracted suicide.

Thanks for the spoiler dude. The movie has been lying on my hard disk for over a year now thanks to another person like you who threw the ending at me as soon as I mentioned it was getting the movie.
It's not a suspense thriller, the objective of the movie isn't to know how the story ends.
Now you are just making excuses. I'm going to tell you the ending of every movie released from now on.
The book it's based on begins with his death.
So that's another spoiler. Excellent work. Don't ever take up work as a reviewer.
That _was_ the only spoiler I gave you. What else?
Ha ha, I don't want to be a reviewer.
